The knowledge value-chain of genetic counseling for breast cancer: an empirical assessment of prediction and communication processes

摘要: The aim of this paper is twofold: to analyze the genetic counseling process for breast cancer with a theoretical knowledge transfer lens and compare generalists, medical specialists, counselors regards their practices. This presents occurring within chain value-adding activities four main stages describing health professionals' clinical practices: (1) evaluation, (2) investigation, (3) information, (4) decision. It also results cross-sectional study based on Canadian doctors survey (n = 176) realized between July 2012 March 2013. statistical exercise included descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA post-hoc tests. indicate that even though all types professionals are involved in entire cancer, more evaluation risk, while active decision toward risk management strategies. secondly demonstrate relevance key role care provided women at-risk familial cancer. an integrative framework understand current Canada, shed light how where contribute process. offers starting point assessing practices order establish clearly what extent efforts should be undertaken implement future services.
