摘要: Equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) causes respiratory disorders and abortion in equids while EHV-1 regularly equine myeloencephalopathy (EHM), a stroke-like syndrome following endothelial cell infection horses. Both EHV-9 infections of non-definitive hosts often result neuronal high case fatality rates. Hence, are somewhat unusual herpesviruses lack strict host specificity, the true extent their ranges have remained unclear. In order to determine seroprevalence EHV-9, sensitive specific peptide-based ELISA was developed applied 428 sera from captive wild animals representing 30 species 12 families five orders. Members Equidae, Rhinocerotidae Bovidae were serologically positive for EHV-9. The prevalence sampled zebra populations significantly higher than zoos suggesting captivity may reduce exposure EHV-1. Furthermore, zebras. contrast, antibody African rhinoceros that they serve as reservoir or natural Thus, broad range favoring herbivores acquired novel ecosystems where common close contact with other perissodactyls.
