摘要: Purpose The goal of this study was to describe the detailed localization novel oxygen-binding molecules, neuroglobin (Ngb) and cytoglobin (Cygb), in mammalian retinas determine whether Ngb Cygb are neuronal or glial proteins retina. Methods Antibodies directed against were used examine their patterns distribution normal canine retinas. Immunoblot analysis performed verify antibody specificity presence tissues. Double-labeling immunohistochemistry with antibodies along (MAP-2, class III beta-tubulin (TUJ1), PKCalpha, calretinin) antigens (vimentin CRALBP). Tissue sections analyzed light confocal microscopy. Results observed different retinal cells. (but not Ngb) also present kidney, liver, lung, heart tissue. Immunohistochemical demonstrated immunoreactivity (IR) ganglion cell layer (GCL), inner (INL) outer (ONL) nuclear layers, (IPL) plexiform (OPL) photoreceptor segments (IS), pigment epithelium (RPE). IR localized within neurons, but glia. found neurons processes GCL, IPL, INL, OPL RPE, Conclusions widely distributed cells Their structure is suggestive a possible role oxygen transport
