摘要: The responses of single cells to light bars different orientation, direction motion, speed, binocular disparity, and wavelength were systematically analyzed in areas V2 VP ventral extrastriate visual cortex the macaque monkey. Selectivity for each these parameters was assessed quantitatively using computer-controlled procedures. In both (both representing superior contralateral quadrant), more than half studied selective stimulus color orientation. contrast, only a small minority motion. Comparison with reports single-unit properties dorsal suggests there are no major differences incidence direction, selectivity between subdivisions V2. Between V3 VP, though, marked differences: Color-selective much less common whereas direction-selective V3. This dorsoventral difference distribution neuronal response significant asymmetry way information is processed upper lower parts field. suggest that it plays an important role form vision, similar attributed area V4.
