摘要: PURPOSE This study explored the relationship between migrant farmworker (MFW) stress and salivary cortisol (sC) in a sample of MFWs prior to migration. SAMPLE The sample, 40 (N = 14 male, 26 female) adult residing lower Rio Grande Valley Texas, primarily comprised middle-aged immigrants with middle-school education. DESIGN pilot feasibility included self-report inventory five serial sC specimens 24 hr. RESULTS measures reflected an expected diurnal pattern. Lower total (area under curve respect ground) was significantly associated greater waist circumference (r -.63, p ≤ .01). Repeated analysis variance (ANOVA) indicated that participants who perceived high levels exhibited significant change over time; F(2.14, 72.65) 43.90, < .001. High- low-perceived-stress groups differed trajectory changes time points. CONCLUSION experienced during premigration. Their responses varied by level stress. may reflect blunting response
