摘要: The 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P.L. 111-148) (PPACA) heralds new challenges for the education of health professionals development a healthcare workforce primed to meet influx previously marginalized populations into systems. Changes in insurance coverage mechanisms coupled with focus on preventive care will require skilled navigation, coordination, ambulatory models, underserved populations. This dissertation is comprised three studies that examine current state two professions impacted by PPACA: social workers physicians. first study, systematic review accredited MSW programs (n=200), was undertaken investigate level healthrelated preparation provided work training program. Bivariate statistics logistic regression models revealed 200 programs, only 13 (6.5%) offer targeted concentrations (HC). Controlling university-level characteristics, university size (β=1.69, p < .001) presence an MPH program (β=2.0, p<.0001) were associated having HC. second study focused medical students PPACA stipulations community-based graduates who go provide primary care. Using grounded theory framework, 468 written assignments from experience examined. Five domains emerged. Themes reflected continuum students' abilities understand experiences perspectives community members communicate their understanding. third manuscript examined resident (N=22) communities through lens curricular requirements training. assessment tool found have good reliability Cronbach's alpha coefficients scales ranging 0.88 0.95.
