摘要: Celiac disease is characterized by small bowel enteropathy, precipitated in genetically susceptible individuals the ingestion of "gluten," which a term used to encompass storage proteins wheat, rye, and barley. Although intestine heals with removal gluten from diet, intolerance permanent damage recurs if reintroduced. This causes wide variety consequence including maldigestion malabsorption, resulting characteristic, although not universal, features malnutrition. article examines recent advances understanding spectrum celiac disease, illustrates impact on nutrition, describes approaches management disease.
