REACTIONS OF NI38 WITH N2, H2, AND CO: CLUSTER STRUCTURE AND ADSORBATE BINDING SITES

摘要: The gas-phase reactions of nitrogen, hydrogen, and carbon monoxide with Ni38 are studied as a function reagent pressure at several reaction temperatures. Saturation coverage the cluster is found Ni38(N2)24, Ni38H36, Ni38(CO)36. These saturation levels consistent metal core ligated having structure truncated octahedron in each case. An alternate fcc derived from 40-atom tetrahedron nitrogen data, but not hydrogen or results. In addition, uptake data indicate that bare also has possibly deformed octahedron. There no indication an icosahedral polyicosahedral structure. nature binding three reagents to discussed. Evidence presented CO initially binds atop sites, following these sites local rearrangement bridge occurs...
