摘要: Objective Increased blood flow causes neointimal atrophy, whereas relief of wall tension with an external wrap arterial medial atrophy. To study the effects and separately together, we applied tight or loose wraps on high-flow normal-flow iliac arteries in baboons. Method Baboon were wrapped loose-fitting tight-fitting expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), leaving part unwrapped. A downstream arteriovenous fistula was constructed one side to increase approximately twofold. The perfusion-fixed 10% formalin after 4 (n = 5) 28 days 5). Results At days, compared unwrapped artery, loosely tightly artery showed significant atrophy (23% 30%, respectively; P Conclusion Loose-fitting ePTFE induced inflammatory foreign body response that caused loss cells extracellular matrix; more effective.
