摘要: Egypt’s role as the leading exporter of educational services to Arab region has been a source national pride and great debate in academic literature on labour migration. Previous research based anecdotal evidence fragments data collected from Gulf governments. This paper, however, analyses export performance education sector using unique previously unpublished database administered by Ministry Education Cairo. Between 1952 2007, Government secondment Egyptian school teachers covered 639,370 years full-time teaching world. paper explores attributes programme provides an account how demand supply conditions have changed over time, focusing particular causes more recent collapse exports. It also presents structured inventory regulatory restrictions concludes that these had limited overall impact decline Finally, this estimates annual flow remittances seconded is likely around US$ 100-200 million 1976-95 period.
