After two outbreaks of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) occurred in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, from March–June 2003, we reviewed the unexpected role and responsibilities pharmacists during these crises, present strategies for better crisis preparedness. Methods Results. Pharmacists were actively involved battling SARS crises. conducting extensive literature searches evaluations, prepared administration dosing guidelines investigational drugs, ribavirin interferon alfacon-1, that being used to treat syndrome.
