摘要: Cytochrome oxidase (CO) histochemistry was used to examine patterns of metabolic activity in the ventral posteromedial nucleus adult rat thalamus. In sections cut an oblique horizontal plane, CO staining reveals distinct patches heightened arranged a fashion remniscent pattern vibrissae on contralateral face and which corresponds known somatotopic organization nucleus. The CO-reactive zones coincide with oval cylinders thalamic neurons that appear be anatomically linked corresponding barrels somatosensory cortex.
