Applications of the Kohonen algorithm in vector quantization

摘要: The paper deals with the exploitation of codebook-ordering property Kohonen algorithm in vector quantization (VQ). First, substantial equivalence between and generalized-Lloyd terms encoding performance for memo-ryless VQ is established. Then, algorithms based on use ordered codebooks are proposed to solve different problems such as rate reduction, progressive transmission, channel-error protection.
