摘要: Purpose of the study. To assess whether early stage (pT1-2,pN0-1) oral cavity carcinoma is adequately treated by radical surgical resection alone. Material and Methods. Prospective multicenter Of 105 patients with cT1-2 cN0-1 in conformity study design, 12 had to be excluded because tumor- positive margins or pN >N1. The remaining 93 were monitored for at least 2 years. Results. Seventeen local regional recurrence develop. In 17 locoregional control was achieved second treatment. Overall, 4-year disease- specific survival probability 94%. Patients initially without selective neck dissection significantly higher recur- rence rates than those dissection, although not adversely affected. Conclusions. Early (pT1-2, pN0-1) squamous cell carci- noma surgery alone, provided are tumor free. On basis presented data, we would also advocate routine dissection. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
