Tolerance factors in human-wildlife conflicts in protected areas: the case of Cross River National Park, Cross River State Nigeria

摘要: Anthropogenic activities cause habitat loss for wildlife, thus increasing human-wildlife conflicts globally. This study focused on highlighting factors that need to be explored when assessing managerial actions. To identify critical influencing co-existence between humans and wildlife the role these can play in supporting conservation of flora fauna. A structured questionnaire was developed administered four communities around two divisions Cross-River National park collect information demographic characteristics series tolerance construct statements understand towards conflicts. The Cross River Park were highlighted using factor analysis 335 households from living near park. Tolerance influences management protected areas. identified a contribution conservation, wealth & multiple livelihood sources, Compensation Benefits, community resilience. Furthermore, it also discovered carnivore requires special attention provide support conservation. Our results suggest even though is central concept conflict, other such as tolerance, occupation locals benefits derived ameliorating Human-wildlife cannot totally eliminated but having clear understanding major determining levels huge step peaceful coexistence hence better area
