摘要: We report a mass mortality of Northern Map Turtles ( Graptemys geographica [LeSueur, 1817]) on the north shore Lake Erie, Ontario, Canada. Thirty-five dead adult females were recovered from nesting area over period four weeks. Predation and boat strikes both excluded as potential cause death, but actual could not be determined because poor condition carcasses. Other possible explanations for include poisoning, drowning, infection with an unidentified pathogen. Mass in long-lived species, such turtles, can have long-term effects population growth is concern species at risk.
