摘要: Background: Sperm Acrosomal SLLP1 Binding (SAS1B) protein (ovastacin) is an oolemmal binding partner for the intra-acrosomal sperm SLLP1. Results: Immunohistochemical localization revealed that SAS1B translation restricted among adult tissues to ovary and oocytes, appearing first in follicles at primary-secondary transition. Quiescent oocytes within primordial primary did not stain SAS1B. Examination of neonatal rat ovaries expression as faint signals postnatal day 3 with staining intensifying oocyte growth. Irrespective animal age or estrus stage, was seen only initiated a second granulosa cell layer. The precise temporal spatial onset conserved seven eutherian species, including nonhuman primates. Immunoelectron micrographs localized cortical granules MII oocytes. A population on oolemma predominantly microvillar region anti-podal nucleus ovulated macaque GV Conclusions: growing absence ovarian reserve, suggest this zinc metalloprotease deserves consideration candidate target reversible female contraceptive strategies.
