摘要: Mossbauer powder diffractometry was used to study partially-ordered 57 Fe 3 Al. Multiple diffraction patterns were measured at Doppler velocities across all nuclear resonances in the sample. The superlattice diffractions analyzed provide data on long-range order of atoms having different numbers Al neighbors. Comparing experimental calculations showed that three as first-nearest neighbors (1nn) have simple cubic order, similar with four 1nn. periodicity 1nn significantly lower than expected for homogeneous antisite disorder, however. Monte-Carlo simulations and transmission electron microscopy suggest a significant fraction aperiodic are near antiphase domain boundaries.
