摘要: Summary Histone variants are important components of eukaryotic chromatin and can alter structure to confer specialized functions. H2B variant histones rare in nature but have evolved independently the phyla Apicomplexa Trypanasomatida. Here, we investigate apicomplexan-specific Plasmodium falciparum histone Pf H2B.Z show that within nucleosomes dimerizes with H2A H2A.Z occupancy correlates subset genes examined. These double-variant also carry common markers euchromatin like H3K4me3 acetylation. levels elevated intergenic regions across genome, except var multigene family, where H2A.Z/Pf only enriched promoter single active copy this enrichment is developmentally regulated. Importantly, pattern seems be specific for does not apply other heterochromatic gene families involved red blood cell invasion which subject clonal expression. Thus, appear a highly function regulation P. falciparum virulence.
