摘要: Abstract Pyrolysis process was experimented using two types of heating source, namely conventional and microwave. Polystyrene (PS) plastic waste used as feedstock in a batch reactor for both the (slow pyrolysis) microwave pyrolysis. The effect activated carbon to polystyrene ratio on (i) yield oil, gas residues (ii) reaction temperature (iii) time were studied. Quality oil from pyrolysis assessed possible applicability fuel production. Microwave power 450 W polymer 10:1, resulted highest 93.04 wt.% with higher value 45 MJ kg−1 kinematic viscosity 2.7 cSt. when compared method, exhibits 330 °C 5.5 min, whereas system it 418 °C 60 min. chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis liquid predominantly yields alkenes 8.44 wt.%, α-methyl styrene 0.96 wt.%, condensed ring aromatics 23.21 wt.% benzene derivatives 26.77 wt.% 10:1. Significant factor is amount energy converted (kWh) lesser than heating.
