摘要: To date, little is known about how trout IgM, the primary antibody of fish, varies in titer, specificity, disulfide cross-linking, and affinity following immunization with a pathogen. Work using defined antigens has demonstrated that cross-linking structure IgM becomes increasingly more polymerized during an immune response, coinciding increase affinity, but it unknown if this relevance to aquatic pathogens. Understanding vaccination pathogen considerable importance as effector functions allocated multiple isotypes mammals are essentially relegated single molecule. gain insights into dynamism rainbow were immunized Streptococcus iniae individual serum titers, their specificity S. iniae, pattern both total-serum specific Ig analyzed over period 37 weeks. We found vaccinated animals titer increased by factor ≈100 from starting levels, 10-fold, diversity proteins recognized at least 5-fold. Most intriguing, though less cross-linked predominated early week 5, fully tetramerized comprised 50% total protein. propose mechanism optimize efficacy carrying out recognizing wide array epitopes higher affinity.
