摘要: Water contact subjects waste glass to chemical attack that results in the formation of surface alteration layers. Two principal hypotheses have been advanced concerning effect layers on continued corrosion: (1) they act as a mass transport barrier and (2) influence affinity reaction. In general, effects found be less important than corrosion most high-level nuclear glasses. However, can under some circumstances, for example, very alkaline solution, leachants containing Mg ions, or conditions where matrix dissolution rate is low. The latter suggests physical may affect long-term rate. Surface reaction through altered secondary phases solution chemistry. controlled by various precipitates crystalline phases, amorphous silica gel layer, all components glass. radionuclide release mainly colloid formation, phase incorporation, layer retention. This paper reviews current understanding uncertainties.
