摘要: Six mediterranean macroalgae were cultivated for more than 2 yr under shade culture conditions, after which light requirements growth investigated at 16±2°C. The saturation levels in the logarithmic phase related to bathymetric distribution of algae on shore. eulittoral supralittoral red alga Bangia atropurpurea was saturated a photon fluence rate 71 μmol photons m-2 s-1, upper sublittoral brown Scytosiphon lomentaria, Colpomenia peregrina and Kuckuckia spinosa Stictyosiphon soriferus 39 deep-water Choristocarpus tenellus 19 s-1. minimum B. C. determined by observing length increase 56 d limiting conditions. compensation irradiances required 0.5 1 s-1 respectively. corresponding values 0.15 0.28 siowest-growing species tested saturating but it grew faster Both able survive darkness, only latter darkness first 14 d.
