摘要: This study was undertaken to investigate the protective effects of melatonin against formaldehyde-induced renal damage in rats. For this purpose, 21 male Wistar rats were divided into three groups. The animals Group I used as a control, whereas group II injected every other day with formaldehyde. III received daily while exposed At end 14-day experimental period, all killed by decapitation, and kidneys removed. Some tissue specimens for determination superoxide dismutase, glutatione peroxidase enzyme activities, malondialdehyde levels. remaining kidney light microscopic evaluation. activities dismutase significantly decreased, levels increased treated formaldehyde compared those control animals. In evaluation group, degenerative glomerules, vacuolization dilatation distal tubules, vascular congestion detected. However, an increase observed enzymes, decrease plus observed. Furthermore, histopathological changes caused disappeared except minimal tubular group. conclusion, biochemical histological findings our suggest that administration prevents oxidative
