摘要: This paper argues that the most famous objection to backward time travel can carry no weight. In its classic form, is entails occurrence of impossible things, such as auto-infanticide—and hence itself impossible. David Lewis has rebutted version objection: auto-infanticide prevented by coincidences, travellers slipping on banana peels they attempt murder their younger selves. I focus Paul Horwich's more recent objection, according which not but improbable ones—such string slips would be required stop a determined auto-infanticidal maniac from murdering her self—and highly improbable. argue does entail unusual numbers coincidences; and that, even if it did, render unlikely.
