摘要: Abstract Guanaco (Lama guanicoe) populations declined after the introduction of domestic sheep and emerging conflicts with breeders their livestock. Apart from ranching, guanacos have due to poaching, legal overhunting, lack sound management schemes. Guanacos been proposed as a key species for rural development in Latin America, so research on tools sustainable use is required. We tested mobile corral trap (MCT) designed live-trapping shearing free-ranging at four ranches along Patagonia. assessed mortality injury rates related our procedures calculated compared roundup capture efficiencies. captured total 55 (13 females, 38 males, 4 calves), live-sheared 30. No mortalities were recorded. Average efficiencies 11.9 guanacos roundup−1 (range 8–20) 11% 0.3–31.5%), respectively. Mean fleece weight was 307±15 g females 338±12 g males. The MCT employed seems promising capturing use. Management implications include: (1) may obtain benefits, generating positive perception toward guanacos; (2) guanaco increase even colonize devoid areas an increased protection level.
