摘要: Abstract Differences in photoperiodic control of reproduction short-day and long-day breeding mammals are compared. Information provided indicates that most aspects regulation similar for both types species, including secretion melatonin, the pineal hormone mediating photic effects on reproduction. Species vary their response to photoperiod because responses target organs a given pattern melatonin differ. Evidence is also presented raise possibility photoperiod-independent rhythms exist. If so, signals other than may contribute diversity seasons mammals.
