摘要: Objective To assess outcomes of trauma caused by television sets falling onto children. Methods Retrospective review medical charts 183 children aged 7 years and younger hospitalized for injuries sets. Descriptive statistics were applied. Data Sources Phase 2 (1988-1995) phase 3 (1995-1999) the National Pediatric Trauma Registry. Outcome Measures Demographics, injured body region, injury severity measured Injury Severity Score, length hospital stay, admission to intensive care unit, surgical intervention, in-hospital death rate, disability resulting from injury, disposition at discharge hospital. Results The sample population represented 0.5% all Registry admissions in this age group. More than half (57.4%) boys, more three quarters (76.0%) 1 4 age. In most cases (95.1%), occurred home. Most (68.3%) sustained head 43.7% multiple regions. a quarter (28.4%) had moderate critical (Injury 10-75), about third (31.1%) required 20.2% needed or interventions. average hospitalization was 3.3 days. Five (2.7%) died, 48 (26.2%) developed functional limitations, which rehabilitation facility 5 cases. (94.0%) returned their proportion set–related increased 100% during study period. Conclusions reported are not trivial. Not only did they require hospitalization, but also resulted an rate comparable 2.5% observed same group unintentional blunt trauma, inclusive motor vehicle traffic–related injuries. Since virtually American risk such we suggest that set designs be modified reduce incidence problem.
