Woody flora as a predictor of vascular plant richness: An insight in Italy

摘要: A key problem in quantifying biodiversity is whether it possible to infer the overall diversity using suitable data subsets. The aim of this article, based on updated native woody flora Italy, evaluate reliability such as a predictor vascular plant richness at medium scale represented by 20 administrative regions. Woody taxa were divided trees, shrubs and lianas. We used stepwise multiple regression principal component analysis analyse correlation between environmental heterogeneity, units (species subspecies) units’ richness. Italy consists 61 families, 133 genera, 469 species 509 units. Shrubs constitute 74% flora, trees lianas 23% 3%, respectively.
