摘要: Abstract: Membranes and separators play an important role in microbial fuel cells (MFCs). Despite many developments of for electrochemical cell applications, there are barriers which limit their performance MFCs include ionic transfer limitations, can increase the internal electrical resistance, oxygen transfer, decrease MFC performance. Various separator materials have been used, including ion exchange membranes (anion, cation bipolar), microfiltration ultrafiltration membranes, porous material using fabrics, glass fibres polymers. Advances understanding properties opened up opportunities to overcome these but challenges remain practical application. Here, a review membrane requirements applications is provided outlook future presented. The working principle followed by discussion on potential wastewater treatment power generation. different affecting discussed. initial development this field much more recent than that chemical cells, with major studies occurring only last two decades.
