On the crystal structure of α′‐cerium

摘要: X‐ray diffraction data for the high‐pressure form of cerium metal recently published by Schaufelberger confirm that α′‐Ce has α‐uranium structure as previously reported Ellinger and Zachariasen. The pressure deduced from α‐Ce lattice constant is 9 kbar smaller than Schaufelberger. At a 43 unit‐cell dimensions are a=4.621±0.003 A a=3.094±0.002 A, b=6.007±0.004 c=5.246 ±0.004 with ΔV/V=−0.012.
