摘要: The illegal trade is a major threat to many bird species, and parrots are common victims of this activity. Domestic international pet markets interested on different parrot such as the Blue-and-yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna). This South American macaw not globally threatened, but under protection from over-exploitation. study aimed identify characterize novel microsatellite loci for population parentage analysis A. ararauna. Scaffold sequences Ara macao available in NCBI database were used searches using MsatCommander software. We tested total 28 loci, which 25 polymorphic, one was monomorphic, two did generated amplification products. For polymorphic mean number alleles 8.24 (4 - 15 per locus), observed heterozygosity ranged 0.333 0.917, expected 0.353 0.890. paternity exclusion probability identity highly discriminatory. Thus, these markers can be useful assignment tests, helping authorities manage macaws trafficking control commercial breeders.
