摘要: Background: Sialorrhea is a common problem in the neurologically impaired pediatric patient and surgery mainstay of treatment for severely affected patients refractory to conservative or medical treatment. Methods: The results surgical protocol used since 1993 at Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne, Australia, are reported. Seventy-two underwent bilateral submandibular duct transposition combined with sublingual gland excision. Patients were analyzed prospectively reviewed 1, 6, 12 months, then 2 5 years postoperatively. Results: Of 67 complete follow-up, median score frequency drooling fell from 4.0 2.9 (p < 0.001) severity-of-drooling decreased 4.8 3.0 0.001). There was fall number clothing/ bib changes four per day zero 0.0001). 41 followed years, both severity scores remained 3. Overall majority benefited surgery. Thirteen (18 percent) experienced complications which major 9 percent. Conclusion: We have found excision combination be superior plus parotid ligation. sialorrhea continues rewarding experience our multidisciplinary team.
