摘要: Research addressing the burden, assessment, and management of nonpain symptoms associated with advanced illness in older adults is limited. While such as fatigue, sleep, dyspnea, anxiety, depression, cognitive impairment, nausea, anorexia-cachexia are commonly noted by patients clinicians, research quantifying their effects on quality life, function, other outcomes lacking there scant evidence regarding management. Most available studies have focused relatively narrow conditions (e.g., chemotherapy-induced nausea) almost no data relevant to multiple morbidities or concurrent symptoms. Assessment treatment serious comorbidities compromised lack care. Recommended priorities address documented high prevalence distressing illness, unique needs this population due coexistence chronic along physiologic changes related aging, for effective pharmacologic nonpharmacologic interventions, need validated measures that across care settings.
