Environmental cue saliency influences the vividness of a remote spatial memory in rats.

摘要: The Morris water maze is frequently used to evaluate the acquisition and retrieval of spatial memories. Few experiments, however, have investigated effects environmental cue saliency on strength or persistence such memories after a short vs. long post-acquisition interval. Using maze, we therefore tested in rats effect distal cues vividness recent (5 days) remote (25 memory. Rats trained cue-enriched cue-impoverished context showed better overall level performance during acquisition. Furthermore, probe trials revealed that (1) spent less time target quadrant at 25-day delay, (2) swam shorter distances area, with fewer crossings both 5- delays, as compared their counterparts context. Thus, memory trace formed shows resistance time, suggesting an implication
