摘要: In this paper, we investigate the determinants of decline in energy intensity four Chinese industries - pulp and cement, iron steel, aluminum. This paper attempts to answer following key question: For purpose promoting efficiency, do prices, technology, enterprise restructuring other policy-related instruments affect various sectors uniformly so as justify uniform industrial conservation policies, or different respond significantly differently require policies that are tailored each sector separately? examine question using data for China's most energy-intensive large medium-size enterprises over period 1999-2004. Our results suggest all rising costs a significant contributor our study. encouraging consolidations scale economies also seem have contributed reductions these industries.
