摘要: Having control over species abundances and community resilience is of great interest for experimental, agricultural, industrial conservation purposes. Here, we theoretically explore the possibility manipulating ecological communities by modifying pairwise interactions. Specifically, establish which interaction values should be modified, how much, in order to alter composition or a towards favorable direction. While doing so, also take into account experimental difficulties making such modifications including our optimization process, cost parameter, penalizes large modifications. In addition prescribing what changes made interspecies interactions given some modification cost, approach serves limits control, i.e. well can one an goal at best, even when not constrained cost.
