The early development of the Patagonian squid Loligo gahi D'Orbigny, 1835 in Peruvian Waters (Cephalopoda: Loliginidae)

摘要: The early development of the Patagonian squid, Loligo gahi D'Orbigny,1835, was studied in field and laboratory. Egg strands, spawned off San Lorenzo Island, Peru, were collected, carried to laboratory, incubated a closed sea water system. capsules ranged from 88 to169 mm length, each capsule contained between 56 114 fertilized eggs. Individual eggs 1,7 2,1 mantle length hatchlings varied 1,9 2,8 mm. Development took about 20 days at mean temperature 19 oC. pattern embryonic is similar that previously observed other species Loligo. Following hatching, paralarvaes survived for 45 with diet zooplankton (copepods, mysids polychaete larvaes).
