摘要: An evaluation of the in situ bacteriologic status a total parenteral nutrition (TPN) catheter, when patient is pyretic but cause infection not obvious, permits continued use catheter if result negative, as opposed to removal suspected catheter. To find predictive value for semiquantitative blood cultures taken through TPN were examined during episodes. A 227 catheters from 204 patients studied. Of these 149 investigated Twenty removed because their positive, and all cases clinical conditions improved after catheters. The remaining 129 showed negative results had values 100%. These left place subsequently proved be sterile on at end TPN. Thus 87% saved.
