Using Hypermedia to Improve Safety in Underground Metropolitan Transportation

摘要: One of the main concerns in organization and management public transportation is passenger safety before an emergency. This even more critical case subway transportation, where risks are higher fire. Handling a emergency stressing task, which large amounts information must be used order to make right decision very short time. In this paper, we describe pioneering application hypermedia technology consisting integration all needed handle emergencies document. It reduces response time remarkably by integrating text, graphics, sound, video 3D models user-friendly interface. The authors Safety Office Metro Valencia, company developed it jointly between 1998 2000. We outline some technical decisions made during project, as well lessons learned concerning development projects.
