摘要: BACKGROUND: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is common worldwide and an important consideration in couples HIV voluntary counseling testing (CVCT) especially for HIV-serodiscordant (i.e. which only one member HIV-infected). DESIGN: Prospective study of 3408 (2299 the HIV-infected was female) from seven countries East Southern Africa. METHODS: At quarterly visits during up to 2 years follow-up participants were asked separately about IPV perpetrated against them by their prior 3 months. Correlates determined generalized estimating equations. RESULTS: The majority married living together with average duration partnership approximately 5 years. More than 39000 recorded. reported 2.7% women 2.2% HIV-uninfected 0.9% men 0.7% men. reports verbal or a combination physical violence.
