The specificities of the ‘Southern Lapita Province’: the New Caledonian case

摘要: New studies on the Lapita phenomenon in Caledonia have led to identification of local patterns that allow outlining concept a ‘Southern Province‘, recently proposed by Kirch (1997). By defining chronological limits and typological characteristics dentate, non-dentate undecorated ware, forms non-ceramic material, this paper makes preliminary study differences cultural complex Southern Melanesia.
