Non-linearity in invasive EEG recordings from patients with temporal lobe epilepsy

摘要: Electrographic recordings from depth and subdural electrodes, performed in two patients with seizures of mesial temporal origin, were analyzed for the presence non-linearities signal. The correlation integral, a measure sensitive to wide variety non-linearities, was used detection. Statistical significance determined by comparison original signal surrogate datasets. Statistically significant present signals generated epileptogenic hippocampus interictal spike foci neocortex. Less prominent found EEG more normal areas brain. These results indicate that techniques developed study non-linear systems can be characterize regions brain during period elucidate dynamical mechanisms epileptic transition.
