摘要: Most studies of an association visit-to-visit variability blood pressure with increased risk future adverse cardiovascular events are short duration and rarely include a placebo group. Using data from the double-blind, placebo-controlled Systolic Hypertension in Elderly Program, authors examined mortality causes up to 17 years follow-up using National Death Index. Visit-to-visit was associated death after adjustment for sex, age, serum creatinine, diabetes, body mass index, smoking status, left ventricular failure, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. The relationship significantly stronger active treatment group compared Although this could be result effect medications used unrelated variability, compatible hypothesis that inconsistent adherence leading missing medication doses may additional explanation death.
