The impact of kangaroo care on exclusive breastfeeding in low birth weight newborns

摘要: OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the impact of kangaroo care on exclusive breastfeeding in low birth weight newborns until 6 months life. METHODS: Prospective study carried out with 43 (23 allocated group and 23 a control group) weighing < 2,000 g staying neonatal unit for at least 7 days. Exclusive rates between groups were compared age months. The chi-square test categorical variables was used statistical significance level 0.05. RESULTS: higher hospital discharge (82.6 vs. 0%; p = 0.00), 40 weeks gestational (73.9 31.6%; 0.01), 3 (43.5 5.0%; 0.005), (22.7 5.9%; 0.20). CONCLUSION: Kangaroo showed to be facilitator
