摘要: [1] TES (Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer) nadir and MLS (Microwave Limb Sounder) limb measurements from the Aura satellite are used to jointly estimate an atmospheric carbon monoxide (CO) profile with extended vertical range compared profiles retrieved individual measurement. We describe algorithms, processing procedures, prototyping results, evaluations for this new joint product. TES “stand-alone” CO retrievals largely complementary, being sensitive lower middle troposphere while measures in upper above. pair tangent locations within 6–8 min 220 km. The paired radiance of two instruments each location optimally combined retrieve a single along other trace gases whose signal interferes that CO. This has resolution is improvement over stand-alone products, especially troposphere/lower stratosphere. For example, degrees freedom (DOFS) between surface 50 hPa alone < 2, 2–4. product will be made available public using V005 V003 results provide unique data set studying tropospheric transport air pollutants troposphere-stratospheric exchange processes.
