摘要: The efficacy of low-dose heparin to prevent fatal postoperative pulmonary embolism was investigated in this multicentered trial. original data from 28 trial centers were published 1975 but inadequacies 1 center led recomputation these excluding the questionable results. Of 4031 patients remaining after exclusion 2033 control group and 1998 heparin-treated groups. 4.2% (n=170) died postoperatively overall: 94 among controls 76 group. Autopsies performed on 70.2% 65.7% patients. 21% (n=15) autopsied due actue massive whereas none subjects embolism. (P < .001). Data did not significantly alter total incidence deep-vein thrombosis nor bleeding complications observed both groups postoperatively.
