Synthesis, characterization and hydrogen storage properties of Mm(Ni,Co,Mn,Al)5 alloy

摘要: This paper investigates hydrogenation characterizations and effect of hydrogenation/dehydrogenation (H/D) cycling on the structural morphological properties MmNi 4.22 Co 0.48 Mn 0.15 Al (Mm=mischmetal) alloy. The alloy was prepared by arc melting method it re-melted several times under argon atmosphere. results indicate that after H/D cycles, is pulverized into fine particles, however, keeps its hexagonal LaNi 5 -type structure. pressure-composition isotherms reactions absorption kinetics were measured in temperature range 293-338K. plateau pressures determined to be ~0.51, 1.22 2.49 bar at 293, 313 333K respectively, with a maximum hydrogen storage capacity about 5.78 293K. enthalpy (∆H), entropy (∆S) activation energy (E ) also calculated. show reaction rate increases an increase operating or pressure. Jander diffusion (JDM) Johnson-Mehl -Avrami (JMA) models employed kinetic analyzed detail for hydriding (rate controlling steps) mechanism. has potential use practical applications.
