摘要: OBJECTIVE--To assess unexpected associations between childhood cancer and pethidine given in labour the neonatal administration of vitamin K that had emerged a study performed 1970 national birth cohort. DESIGN AND SETTING--195 children with diagnosed 1971-March 1991 born two major Bristol maternity hospitals 1965-87 were compared 558 controls identified from delivery books for use during K. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES--Odds ratios presence or intramuscular Both logistic regression Mantel-Haenszel techniques used statistical analyses. RESULTS--Children mothers not at increased risk (odds ratio 1.05, 95% confidence interval 0.7 to 1.5) after allowing year hospital delivery, but there was significant association (p = 0.002) 1.97, 1.3 3.0) when oral no There significantly who been 1.15, 0.5 2.7). These results could be accounted by other factors associated K, such as type admission special care baby unit. CONCLUSIONS--The only studies so far have examined relation shown similar results, is biologically plausible. The prophylactic benefits against haemorrhagic disease are unlikely exceed potential adverse effects Since has obvious this prophylaxis choice.
