摘要: Epidemiological studies investigating the prevalence of autism have increased in recent years, within United States and abroad. However, statistics as to how many those children may also a comorbid hearing loss is lacking. The school-administrator reported diagnosis spectrum disorders (clinical [DSM-IV] and/or IDEA classification) among with US was estimated from 2009–2010 Annual Survey Deaf Hard Hearing Children Youth conducted by Gallaudet Research Institute. Results indicate that during school year 1 59 (specifically 8-year olds) were receiving services for autism; considerably higher, than national estimates 91 (Kogan et al. Pediatrics 124(4):1–8, 2009) 110 (CDC 2007) children. Significantly more profound had milder forms loss. These results are discussed, while highlighting need awareness research population has thus far received little or attention.
